Clary Lake is a Great Pond located in Lincoln County Maine in the towns of Whitefield and Jefferson. It is about 640 acres in size and is part of the Sheepscot River watershed. Here is an aerial photograph and a map showing Clary Lake and the surrounding area.
The water level of Clary Lake is maintained by a dam at it's outlet on Route 218 in Whitefield. Life around Clary Lake one way or the other seems to revolve around the dam; it's condition, which is currently poor, is of concern to everyone. The Association is actively seeking to obtain ownership of the dam and hopes eventually to resolve the "dam problem" once and for all. Here is a letter to the editor that has been submitted to the Lincoln County News on this very topic. Keep an eye on the Association News page for updates on this exciting initiative!
This site is brand new and major changes are coming! It is largely the work of myself, George Fergusson, a Clary Lake shore owner and the current President of the Clary Lake Association. I live on the south side of the lake on Route 126 near the Jefferson town line (I'm the one that used to have the big music party every summer; now my children throw the party). I originally envisioned this site to be a resource for the Clary Lake Community in general, a place where all lakeshore owners could gather around and share ideas, concerns, and information. Then, I became president of the Clary Lake Association and I needed a soapbox. My original vision of a community-based site still holds. One idea I'd like to see soon is a community mailing list- let me know if you're interested in this.
Your ideas are welcome- please take some time and explore what is here and send me your comments and I'll try and work them in. If you'd like to help with the site or have content and/or pictures you think we could use, let us know that too!
Oh yeah. Almost forgot: I'll try to make it clear when I speak for the Association. Otherwise, the opinions expressed on this site are probably mine and may or may not represent the opinions of the Association. That's a disclaimer by the way.
